Giilangga Biladhi – River of Stories project
The Giilangga Biladhi Project will document a range of significant, previously undocumented, cultural stories. The stories are written as inspiration to future generations and contain much practical wisdom on how to live life well according to culture, and the example of the Elders.
Stage one of the Giilangga Biladhi project is framed by a series of publications, an introductory exhibition, and a media rich website. The concept has come to the forefront as we have considered the legacy of the work we have gathered, alongside the new work we continue to create together. We believe this will leave a gift that is genuinely accessible to the community into the future.
Initially, the project will focus on the Riverina and the concerns of a group of senior Elders. It is a potential template we are hopeful will be a helpful example to other Indigenous Nations. It demonstrates the Wiradjuri’s enduring identity, connection to one another, and to Country.
